Who am I?

I am baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.  My family and I have been members of Faith since 2005.  My husband, Doug, and I were married in 1998.  We have two adult children, Blake and Ella.  Doug and I can attest to the great school that CLS is, because Ella had the most positive experience and great education at CLS for the time she attended from fourth grade to graduating after eighth grade.  We are proud of how the amazing staff at CLS prepared Ella for high school, strengthened her faith, and encouraged her to be a leader.

Our family likes to travel, play cards and games, eat meals together, and go to church together.  We enjoy the companionship of our two cats.  My favorite personal hobbies are visiting family and friends, and crafting that specifically includes counted cross stitch, sewing, card making, and scrapbooking.

Education and Experiences

Growing up in southwest Minnesota, I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwest State University (now Southwest Minnesota State University) in Marshall, Minnesota.  I have taught first grade in the public-school system from 1988-2018.  The fall of 2018 marks the beginning of my teaching career at CLS.  Short term highlights were overseas experiences in Australia and China.

Why Celebration Lutheran School?

“So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot.” (Ecclesiastes 3:22a).  I am blessed and thankful to have a career in education, and I am passionate about being a teacher.  My teaching career at CLS brings new aspects for me to be passionate about: academic excellence in an atmosphere of Christian love; limited class sizes to provide optimal learning; academic policies; participation in spiritual life; and a student code of conduct that promotes respect.  It is an honor to be teaching at CLS and serving a school that maintains high educational standards in a foundation of faith and encourages students to develop their individual and collective God-given talents and abilities.

Classroom/Educational Goals

It is my professional goal to help students grow in faith and expose students to a full spectrum of academic subjects including communicative arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.  I will help develop children intellectually and emphasize mastery learning of subject matter.  My personal goal is to maximize independent student performance, inspire students’ interest in reading, and make learning fun.  I will promote family participation in education of students.  I will foster an open-door policy with parents so we can communicate, cooperate, and collaborate together to make their child’s learning experience positive and memorable.

The Mission of the Lutheran School

Helping students grow in faith and their walk with the Lord is a prominent mission of the Lutheran school.  A school community of fellow students encompassing a good foundation of prayer, worship, biblical study, fellowship, camaraderie, and service to others promotes the growth of spiritual life.  The Lutheran school helps students develop good values, a strong moral character, and to leave good footprints in life.  Lutheran schools equip hearts, minds, and souls of students so they can be released into the word to share God’s love.
